On Sharing Being Caring

The more you give, the more you get, not on earth but in heaven.

And I can live with that.

Bible-ness Learned Today:

Strength is found in peace and quiet. Meditation, time alone with God, is good.

So like, I can go all monk and be all meditative, and that's good, and like, it gives monks super strength--like, you know those monks who carry giant weapons around in JRPGs, and when they join your party they're all like HUWAA! and then they crush stuff with their staffs and nunchucks.

Or like, the bald dude in Avatar: TLA. You know. The Avatar.

Speaking of which, I have not found true satisfaction in any of the Avatar games: I remember being eleven and spending hours playing the first one and thinking it was the cooliest thing ever. Then I went back and played it a couple days ago and was like, wow. Give me back the last forty-five minutes of my life.

Same with Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. I put in a fotchton of hours playing it with my dad last summer--at least, it seemed like a fotchton, because we beat a level a day and that took, pathetically, an hour per level--and picked it up Sunday night.

Can you say, slight piratical fail?

I played it on PS2. It wasn't horrible by any means, but after Crisis Core and God of War: Chains of Olympus, my video game pallet has wizened a bit. Hack and slash games don't quite do it for me anymore. If my thumbs hurt after five minutes of combat, something is wrong. And not with my thumbs.

As of now I'm downloading the PSP demo of Siphon Filter: Dark Mirror. Possibly I should have checked out its reviews first. Ah well, it is teh free.

On Crisis Core

I have not done a lick of NaNo writing today.

This morning I went to church and I worked out and I washed my hair and I gorged on meatloaf--and then I got Crisis Core so I have been attacking that obsessively for the past five hours. Between homework and chores I got a good two and a half hours of gameplay in. Hello, amazing!

Best. Game. Evar. Misspelling intentional.

I'm hardly a tenth of the way through, from what I understand, and not counting many missions, but already the story has me squeeing and mashing buttons and loving the characters. Genesis is awesome, and I just met Reno of the Turks. He seems fun. I'm not going to spoil the story for anyone, but I am hooked. And if you have a PSP, go buy the game--don't download it, like I tried to do, just buy it. Buy it. Support Shinra today!

Now then, nerd fest over. Oh wait, my tie needs adjusting.

By the way, does anyone know of any good Bible podcasts for teens? Just wondering.

On Cartel

But he's sixteen and he's driving too fast, takes a turn to the left--it would be his last. The body knows what happens if he turns to the right. The body in the car would have died that night...

~Cartel, Wasted

Oh! And I strongly suggest checking out one of the iTunes free downloads this week titled John, the Word of Promise Next Generation Audio Bible: ICB: Free Audio Book. Well, I don't recommend it if you're Jewish, because it's all about Jesus being the son of God. But it is amazing. Like a story. The entire thing is the audio book of John (the Baptist, the guy from the Gospels) and so far I am hooked. I've listened to nearly two out of three hours of it. Hello, wonderful.

I did manage to reach 25k last night. Well, this morning, because I dropped off somewhere around midnight with 23k and miraculously came back at 2am, typed a thousand words, dropped off and again woke up two hours later. I finished the last k somewhere around 4:30, because I emailed it to myself at 4:34. Other than that, the night was a blur of words, and I know that when I go back to edit this thing, half of it is getting executed, and at least a quarter will be replaced. 25k brings be down to about a quarter of my outline, so the entire book will top off somewhere around 100k if I keep going at the rate I'm going. I won't, I know. Last year brought me 95k. Let's go for more!

I'm nearly done with Bloody Jack: My Bonny Light Horseman, and that upsets me. Though it's definitely on the short side and I can spot many, many places where more detail would be wonderful, I am turning out to really like it. I do believe it shall be my favorite, perhaps after the first one. In fact, my list of the books in order according to how I like them at this very moment is:

1--Bloody Jack
2--My Bonny Light Horseman
3--In the Belly of the Bloodhound
4--Under the Jolly Roger
5--Mississippi Jack
6--Curse of the Blue Tattoo

So now I must wait around until Rapture of the Deep Comes out, and then the Wake of Lorelei Lee. Ah!
