Bunraku Seirei

I'm having an identity crisis:
I walked into the library
And felt my heart ooze out through my lungs, because
I went into the fiction section
(I always go there first)
It had been a while
Someone had shelved a hundred 100 new books
Just under YA
How could I read them all?
No one could
My internal organs spontaneously combusted
I was this close of hyperventilating, having a cardiac arrest,
Then dying of an asthma attack
I don't even have asthma.

I was terrified because
I can work all my life to publish a book
But
It's still just ONE little book
That I've toiled over
ONE little book
Out of thousands in the library
ONE little book
That no one will read so it'll just sit there, unread
While starving mice chew on the pages
Munch.

On the bright side, I settled on The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (John Boyne), The Crooked Letter (Sean Williams), Star-Crossed (Linda Collison) and The Black Tattoo (Sam Enthoven).
